William D. "Dave" Adams
William D. "Dave" Adams, 61, of Easton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at his home.
He was born the son of William Jr. and Sue (Forbes) Adams on Jan. 27, 1942 in Wayland, Ky.
He married Ramona P. Budd on Oct. 13, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio. She survives of the home.
Dave retired from the U.S. Army as a major after serving for more than 20 years. He served two tours in the Vietnam War where he was a Medical Services Corps officer. After the Army, he worked for Ford Aerospace in Houston, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Leavenworth, and then for Infogain Software as a software engineer. He was currently employed by IBM in Lenexa as a senior software engineer. Dave was a graduate of Ohio State University and earned his master's degree in aerospace engineering from St. Mary's University of San Antonio. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Leavenworth, where he was the founder and director of the Schola Cantorum. He was a member of the Sunflower Kennel Club of Olathe.
He is survived by his wife, Romana P. Adams; two sons and their wives, Andrew D. and Kimberlie Adams, and Michael W. and Tabatha Adams, both of Leavenworth; brother, Paul D. Adams, Lexington, Ky.; and five grandchildren.
His parents and daughter, Caroline Sue Adams, who passed away on March 18, 1982, preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapels, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth, KS 66048, (913) 682-1614. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1401 Second Ave. Inurnment with full military honors will be held next week at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the William D. Adams Scholarship Fund for Immaculata High School or to the church, both in care of the funeral home.
