Ex-Resident, 31, Drowns In Pond

Dale D. Caw, 31, of Broadway avenue, Garfield Heights, drowned shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday while swimming with three companions in a farm pond off Wayne Ridge raod about two miles southeast of Ohio 146, Sheriff's Sgt. Micael Keeton reported.

Keeton said Caw was swimming in about 12 feet of water when he disappeared.

He said Joseph Gomez, 18, of 2700 Wayne Ridge road, Junior Adams, 15, and Glenn Adams, 9, both of 2340 Wayne Ridge road, were swimming with the victim.

They brought Caw to shore and adminstered artificial respiration, but were unable to revive him, Keeton said.

Caw was visiting Nellie Caw of 3165 Wayne Ridge road, a relative. His parents were also visiting at the Wayne Ridge road home.

Mr. Caw was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Zanesville a son of Lewis and Opal Dickson Caw, formerly of Cleveland. He was a public accountant, a Navy veteran and a member of Jehovah Witnesses.
