Donald Scott Shepherd, 63
NEW CONCORD - Donald Scott Shepherd, 63, of 190 Old Rix Mills Road, New Concord, passed away Oct. 6, 2006.
The son of the late Harold and Pauline Hickle Shepherd, he was born April 20, 1943. He was a father, grandfather, brother and friend. Don gave 38 years of service to Tehhessee Gas Pipeline. He was an active citizen and committed member of Good Shepherd Foursquare Gospel Church. Don loved God, his family and friends, and golf. He was a kind-hearted, genuine man who loved to laugh. He did things right. He is in a better place, but he will be so missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was our rock. Never replaced, always remembered.
He is survived by two sons, Don Shepherd, husband to Lora (Gatten) Shepherd and Brad Shepherd, husband to Marsha (Mehling) Shepherd; one daughter; Diane Shepherd Redfern, wife to Kyle Redfern; five grandchildren, Ashley Shepherd Young, Clay and Cameron Shepherd, Emilee and Karli Redfern and a granddaughter on the way; four step granchildren, David, Jeremy and Jason Starcher, and Heather Anders; two sisters, Jane Jones and Lela Neff; four brothers, Dave, Ed, Ronnis and George Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Shepherd.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9 at Mock-Miller Funeral Home in New Concord.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at Mock-Miller Funeral Home in New Concord with Pastor Bill Cain officiating.

New Concord man dies in car crash Friday
NEW CONCORD - Donald Shepherd, 63, of Old Rix Mills Road, New Concord, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday as the result of a car crash in Guernsey County, according to Trooper Lea Mikes of Cambridge Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Ohio 83, three miles south of New Concord.
According to authorities, Lance Patton, 27, of Patton Lane, New Concord, was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup south on Ohio 83 when he overcorrected (drifted), to the right side of the roadway, reentered the road and drove left of center. Shepherd, who was driving a 1991 Chevy S10 pick-up, drove off to the right side of the road attempting to avoid Patton, who struck Shepherd's vehicle.
Both were wearing seat belts.
